Understanding Dyslexia

 

This course is designed to educate participants on the subject of Dyslexia. Dyslexia is a specific learning disability that adversely affects the ability to read and write and is neurobiological in its origin. Teachers, administrators, psychologists and administrators must be educated on this subject so that early intervention can occur and the correct instructional methods and accommodations can be given the student. This course will provide the tools for teachers to learn and use technology comfortably and gain a wealth of useful skills applicable in the classroom. All of the software applications we will work with are free or already installed on most laptops.  Participants of this course will benefit from hands-on experiential learning facilitated by the use of their own laptop. Digital cameras, flash drives, and blank CDs will be used but are not required.
